Under His Eye: The Handmaid's Tale will be back for Season four on SBS on demand. Source: Digital Spy
Season three of dystopian drama series is currently airing on SBS On Demand (new episodes every Thursday) and (in my opinion) is as strong as the series critically acclaimed season.
Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, The Handmaid’s Tale follows the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States. Moss stars with Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel, Madeline Brewer, Ann Dowd, O.T. Fagbenle, Max Minghella, and Samira Wiley.
In her review of season three, Variety critic Caroline Framke deemed that the show “is stuck in a repetitive loop, both by design and accident,” as it chooses to “hammer home its greatest hits to the detriment of the possible new avenues it could explore.” While Framke said that it “occasionally” still “hits a worthy, specific nerve,” overall the third season suffers from “zooming too far out.”
I disagree with this review. My opinion is that the show's mystery revolves around the the creation and expansion of Gilead. Seeing the show visit Washington D.C. and discovering how extreme this society can get is something we've been calling out for since the very first season.
There are still three more episodes of this season to air. New episodes roll out weekly on SBS On Demand.
