Why Big Brother US is my preferred BB...
This week, Big Brother UK said its final goodbye. The show took a significant hit in 2017 when it ran head to head against Love Island UK.
On the flip-side, Big Brother US just finished one of it’s most successful seasons ever. I adored this season of the show - deep in strategy while still having light and humour.
The US version of Big Brother is dramatically different to it’s UK (and for that matter it’s AU) counterparts. It adopts format points from Survivor to create a show that’s layered, full of intrigue and doesn’t depend on the 24/7 element that the UK/AU versions stayed true too.
The US version, also isn’t afraid to tweak it’s format and not take itself too seriously. In the world of The Only Way is Essex, Vanderpump Rules and Love Island, having a lose and adaptable format is vital cut-through for today’s audiences.
Big Brother US returns for a second season of it’s Celebrity Edition in early 2019, and suspect the regular season (season 19!) to premiere in June.
