I was never obsessed with the original 1998 series of Charmed (it was no Buffy the Vampire Slayer). That said, I watched every episode and could probably rattle off the plot line and name most of the secondary characters.
Although I'm not invested in the 2018 reboot (just you wait Monica Owusu-Breen), I'm very curious to see what Jennie Snyder Urman does with the concept.
The things I loved about the original Charmed were simple:
It was primarily a show about sisters (who just happened to be sisters)
It's tone was warm. The show didn't take itself too seriously.
The sister's powers were intricately linked to their personalities (like Prue talking about Pheobe "The girl has no vision, no sense of the future")
It's strange to think that this generation of shows are now being rebooted. Roseanne, Murphy Brown - and even Will and Grace fell due for a comeback. This feels too new to recreate. That said, it has been over 12 years since the finale, so I think this feeling says more about my own sense of time.
How will the new Charmed pan out? I'm not sure. I can't wait to see how it goes!
